Dress to Impress

Writer and director Nora Ephron passed away in 2012 at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy of enchanting romantic comedies like When Harry Met Sally… and Sleepless in Seattle. But even such a famous woman in Hollywood is not without her sleeper hits. One was 2008’s Drama Desk Award-winning stage adaptation of the book Love, Loss, and What I Wore, which Ephron wrote with her sister Delia. Organized as a series of monologues, the script uses a rotating cast of women to probe identity, relationships, and clothes. The Majestic Theater promises “wardrobe malfunctions, first date outfits, lucky underwear, prom dresses, favorite boots, irreplaceable shirts, dressing room experiences, and the disorganized purse.” Collecting such pieces — and recollecting them later — provides fodder for one of the past decade’s most charming and insightful stage comedies.

Love, Loss, and What I Wore: Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.; Sunday at 2 and 7 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 p.m. $26-$33. Majestic Theater, 131 Elm St., West Springfield. (413) 747-7797, majestictheater.com.
