An adoption center for cats, dogs, and other small animals, Dakin focuses on improving the lives of animals in need and the people who are there for them. Since 2006, this local nonprofit, based in Springfield and Leverett, has provided services such as dog training classes, spay and neutering, vaccines and microchip implants, and special adoption programs for barn cats. “Dakin’s success and innovative programs have always been a reflection of our community’s values. It’s because of these values of openness, inclusion, and desire to build a responsive and compassionate community, that has made Dakin become a national leader in animal welfare,” Executive Director Carmine DiCenso said.
