The two-week celebration of music in New Orleans during Jazz Fest came to a close last Sunday, and we’re all fighting to return to that very special feeling that comes along with it. From the fairgrounds to the clubs around town, the spirit of New Orleans was lifted to a higher degree and carried through the late night with enviable collaborations going down in some of the city’s most colorful establishments.

Of the many highlights included one evening in particular at The Howlin’ Wolf, when The Nth Power made their triumphant return to the city of sound for the second year in a row as Earth, Wind, & Power. While the performance went down in a different venue than the previous year, the celebration continued in large honor of the music of Earth, Wind, and Fire, bringing along Rashawn Ross of Dave Matthews BandSkerikWeedie BraimahFarnell Newton, Galactic’s Erica Falls, and Drew Sayers and Lyle Divinsky of The Motet, and so many more.

Oteil Burbridge and Kofi Burbridge played double duty, also performing with Neal and Alan Evans for their second-ever live performance as the All Brothers Band. Up-and-coming funk act Organ Freeman also performed the stage, gaining new fans far beyond their home in LA.

Additionally, a number of the awesome musicians gathered in The Den to pay tribute to Allen Toussaint. The band known as the “Allen Toussaint Jukebox” featured Shira Elias and Michelangelo Carubba from TurkuazSasha Brown from Sister Sparrow & The Dirty BirdsJoe Tatton from The New Mastersounds, and Eric Vogel from the Nigel Hall Band.

It was a celebration of epic proportions, and luckily Josh Timmermans was there to capture the glory:
