Marigold Announces Solo Northeast Tour This Winter

182

Marigold will be touring solo this winter, starting with a hometown show on Jan. 23 at Mohawk Place, and making stops across New York in Rochester, Syracuse, and Amityville on a journey that spans the Northeast. This is the first tour for Marigold, who has opened for national acts such as Sundressed, Save Face, Bogues, and Hot Mulligan. Marigold will celebrate the one year anniversary of the debut full-length album Counterfeit Art on the road.

Marigold is the name of the project created by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ben Lieber, who also performs in the alternative rock band Head North. Marigold is not only a creative outlet, it serves as a platform for Lieber to raise awareness and funds for charities he believes in. Proceeds from the sale of Counterfeit Art are being donated to The Cure Starts Now (funding research for pediatric brain cancer) and Leiber is donating one dollar from each album sold to Planned Parenthood. Earlier this year, he partnered with Bands Take A Stand to support A Voice For The Innocent, organizations which support creating safe spaces in the music industry and assist victims of sexual abuse, respectively.

From the sounds of it, Marigold has only just begun. Lieber told NYS Music:

I’ve got a lot of plans for the project this year, including a new record. I thought I’d get things moving by doing little run on my own. I’m excited about it!
