Hold on to your tin foil hats, festival-goers, because there’s some speculation that Arctic Monkeys could be in line to perform at Splendour In The Grass 2018, after the band announced a tour with a suspicious Splendour-sized hole overnight.
Announcing their first live shows since 2014, Alex Turner and company revealed they’ll be performing at some of the world’s biggest music festivals in 2018, including Barcelona’s Primavera Sound, Lisbon’s NOS Alive and Delaware’s Firefly Music Festival.
However, at the end of July there’s a nice gap where a certain Aussie festival could sit. Here’s how it looks on Arctic Monkeys’ official website:

Fans are already freaking out at the possibility of the band returning down under in 2018…

…but there’s also a chance the band won’t make it to Australia this year.
They could still be announced on Japan’s yet-to-be-revealed Fuji Rock Festival lineup (which could help their chances of an Aussie tour, as it’s shortly after Splendour), or they could just announce a full-blown European headline tour around their new festival dates.
While Arctic Monkeys released their latest album AM back in 2013 and haven’t toured Australia since 2014, the band are expected to release a new album later this year, after bassist Nick O’Malley said the group would have “problems” if they can’t finish the record in time.
Meanwhile, another English band may have already outed themselves for this year’s Splendour lineup, after The Wombats’ frontman Matthew ‘Murph’ Murphy told Music Feeds the band are booked for “a very special festival” down under.
Splendour In The Grass 2018 is set to take place at North Byron Parklands between Friday, 20th and Sunday, 22nd July, and the lineup is expected to be officially announced in March.
Do We Wanna Know if Arctic Monkeys are on it? You bet.
