Over $6,000 Worth Of DJ Gear Stolen From The XX’s Sydney After-Party

Over $6,000 worth of DJ gear was allegedly stolen from The xx‘s Sydney after-party on the weekend, and organisers are now calling for the public’s help.

Local label Siberia Records hosted the ‘S3cret d00f part Deux’ event at a secret location following The xx’s Sydney show in The Domain on Saturday night — with the band’s Jamie Smith and Romy Madley Croft DJing alongside the likes of Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa and Jagwar Ma’s Jono Ma — but have now claimed they were robbed of thousands of dollars worth of equipment.

“In the early hours of [Sunday] morning (around 6:30am) someone stole our CDJs, mixer, headphones and lights… over $6,000 of equipment,” Siberia Records has told punters on Facebook, explaining that they kept the party a mostly free event, despite having to transport the equipment for two kilometres, including (apparently) across a live rifle range.

“It was a pretty much free party (we sold 10 tickets and let everyone else come for free). Over 400 people came,” organisers say.

“Jamie XX, Romy XX, Jono Ma, Stella Mozgawa, Caius Pawson, Daniel Stricker, Jimmy Sing all played for free.”

Siberia Records is now calling for anyone who came to the after-party or just “felt inclined to help” to make a donation “of $15 to $20” to help them out, via their PayPal email address “[email protected]”.

“Not only will it help us this time, but it allows us to keep doing these parties,” they say. “Please help.”

Aside from their secret Sydney after-party, members of The xx also played DJ sets in Melbourne last week, following their headline show in that city.

The group’s Sydney headline show was the last date on their 2018 Australian tour, which also included a show in Brisbane.
