Having broken the ice with her solo project in 2017 with her debut single ‘Venomous’, homegrown songstress LUNA has returned, gliding back into the scene atop her brand new single’ My Blues’, premiering today, and bringing with it news of a larger release dubbed Bad.
‘My Blues’ is an exposing, graphic sonic cocktail, served with a light, but tight electronic production, making it go down without the slightest burn. LUNA takes a good, hard look in the mirror – both literally and metaphorically for ‘My Blues’, allowing for a vivid personal appraisal, all the while keeping a universality that, hell, we can all connect with in one way or another.
“Most of these songs I actually wrote when I became bedridden at the start of 2017,” explains LUNA of the forthcoming record. “I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease Fibromyalgia and also
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My symptoms were so severe, I literally had to teach myself to walk again and it took months. I had to stay on strict diets, throw my body in ice baths once a week just to be able to function. This illness has shaped me as a person in ways I could never have imagined and I’m hoping I can empower others through the tracks I wrote.”
LUNA also worked her magic behind the keyboard for Make Them Suffer; one of Australia’s most successful heavy music exports in recent times. Luna joined the band for their Never Say Die and Ether tours, before departing to venture down the solo artist road.
Still, she retained many of the heavy-music sensibilities picked up along the way, with her solo material undoubtable falling into the category of ‘Dark-pop’…Popcore, if you will.
‘My Blues’ comes just about a full month ahead of the release of Bad, giving listeners plenty of time to cosy up with the new tracks before embracing the whole shebang.
