Aussie Music Legend Paul Gray Of 80’s Pop Band Wa Wa Nee Has Died At 54

Tributes are flowing across Australia for music veteran Paul Gray, the lead singer of famed homegrown pop ACT Wa Wa Nee, who died yesterday after a battle with skin cancer.

As Nine reports, the renowned singer, who clocked up a string of hits in the 80’s like ‘Simulation’,  ‘I Could Make You Love Me’ and ‘Sugar Free’, passed away peacefully at the age of 54.

The news was announced via the Wa Wa Nee Facebook page, via a statement that read: “It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce that Paul Gray passed away.

“We would like to thank all the Doctors, hospital staff, relatives, friends and fans for the overwhelming support given to Paul and our family while he heroically battled Multiple Myeloma.”

Gray wasn’t only renowned for his international hits with Wa Wa Nee, he also went on to work with such high profile Aussie acts acts as Tina Arena, Kate Ceberano and Bardot.

Many of Paul’ peers in the local music industry have bee left heartbroken by the news of the musician’s early death, and have taken to social media to share their grief.
