SCARLET SAILS WITH GRACE, DIGNITY AND LOVE AS FUNKADELIC STUDIOS CELEBRATES THEIR 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF INSPIRATION AT THE HISTORIC BITTER END
The band Scarlet Sails who shares creative memories at Funkadelic Studios was appropriately invited to The Bitter End on Wednesday night to commemorate a milestone of service the studio has contributed to the local music community. The band was established as a result of the collaborative efforts of Olya and Brian Viglione whose personal and professional union began during a fated jam session at Funkadelic in October of 2013. It was there that drummer Brian and singer songwriter Olya first shared their eternal passion for music.
The evening’s five song set encompassed only a small part of Scarlet Sails catalogue yet displayed the magnitude of their talent and style. Along with Mark Christopher on guitar, Kevin Jones on bass, Brian and Olya graced the stage and gave an inspirational performance.
Songs such as “ I Used To Be A Mountain” and “Who, Me?!” involved harder, edgier rock and roll moments, whereas ballads like “Hideaway” were more melodic.
“My Love” especially set the tone of the many layers of dedication and passion within this amazing band for each other and the music industry. Overall, the songs hint at only part of this continuing story of heartfelt affection and leave us wanting more. Happy Anniversary Funkadelic and thank you Scarlet Sails because you have “chosen to stay” and follow your quest for sincerity and ”true love…..”
