Aretha Franklin’s Public Viewing To Be Held In Detroit Next Week

77

Last week, the news broke that the Queen of Soul, Aretha Fraklin, died at the age of 76. Though reports began to surface that Franklin was “gravely ill” earlier in the week, the soul singer’s loss still has left the music community in shock. Since the announcement of Aretha Franklin’s death, countless artists and public figures have come forward, sharing their condolences and remembrances of the iconic singer. Now, fans can pay their respects in person with a public viewing later this month.

On August 28th and 29th, an open casket viewing will be held in Aretha’s hometown of Detroit. The viewings will take place at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on both days. On August 31st, a private funeral will be held for friends and family.

Rest in power, Aretha. You will be deeply missed.
