PREMIERE: Sydney’s STUMPS Rival Britpop’s Finest With Party-Starting New Tune, ‘Conversations, Conversations’

212

Aussie indie rock collides with Britpop in the infectious new single from Sydney Northern Beaches quartet, STUMPS.

Premiering exclusively via Music Feeds below ahead of its official release tomorrow, the fresh tune marks STUMPS’ first new musical offering since their debut EP Just Another Stay at Home Son hit virtual shelves back in March.

“Our first EP was an auditory reflection of us finding our feet as a band, exploring a range of sounds and discovering what kind of band we wanted to be,” explains bassist Merrick Powell.

“Since then we have really honed in on what we enjoy writing and what we want to be as a band, and ‘Conversation, Conversations’ is the first example of this.”

The driving new ditty was inspired by throw-away conversations overheard in the current dating climate, with the band transforming their observations into a lyrical stab at masculinity, and the often pointless attempt some people make at impressing others.

To celebrate the single release, STUMPS will also be hitting the road with Trophy Eyes, opening up their The American Dream national album tour.

Catch all those dates, and take ‘Conversations, Conversations’ for a spin, below.

Fans of The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys and The Fratellis should vibe.
