Dave Matthews Band Busts Out ‘#34’ In Lake Tahoe

113

Dave Matthews Band are currently in the final leg of their first extensive tour since 2016. On Friday night the jamband stalwarts pulled into Stateline, Nevada for a gig at Harveys Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena that saw them deliver a true rarity during their 20-song night.

The Charlottesville-birthed act got their evening in The Silver State going with the fan-favorite “Satellite.” From there the band would deliver a string of setlist staples from their current run with takes on “That Girl Is You,” “#41,” “Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)” and “Louisiana Bayou.” Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King track “Spaceman” followed which was seeing its second workout after being revived during their recent run at The Gorge after laying dormant since 2015.

The biggest surprise came at the midway point of the night when the band dusted off “#34” for just its 25th time ever since it was debuted in 1993. The Under The Table And Dreaming deep cut, which was the 96th unique song the band delivered this summer, had last been played on the very same day back in 2013 – a span of 366 shows. The date has significance for DMB as it also happens to be founding member LeRoi Moore’s birthday, who passed away in 2008. The back half of the show at a distinctly old-school feel as Dave Matthews & Co. served up the likes “Jimi Thing,” “Warehouse,” “Typical Situation” and “Ants Marching.”
