Dave Matthews Band Rolls Through Lake Tahoe, Revives “#34” After 5-Year Gap

109

On Friday night, Dave Matthews Band hit Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena At Harvey’s, continuing the tail end of the band’s tour, which wraps up on September 10th at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl following tonight’s stop at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. Friday night’s show saw Dave Matthews Band drawing on many favorites from this past summer tour, with the vast majority of tune having been played previously within their last four performances.

Opening with “Satellite”, marking the first time the tune has opened a show since 2016, Dave Matthews Band laid out a stellar, high-energy performance chock full of fan-favorite originals. While much of the song selection was standard fare, the band surprised the audience mid-way through their set with a take on “#34”, marking the first time the tune had been played since September 7th, 2013—exactly five years since its last performance and after a gap of 366 shows. The instrumental track off Under The Table And Dream was inspired and written for Miguel Valdes, a percussionist and past collaborator of DMB who passed away in 1993. Another highlight of the night was a partial cover of Prince‘s “Sexy M.F.”, which emerged out of “Jimi Thing” following “Can’t Stop”.

You can watch Dave Matthews Band’s performance of “The Warehouse” below. The group continues to Shoreline Amphitheater tonight and closes their summer tour in full on Monday night in Los Angeles.
