Reed Mathis and Electric Beethoven devoted much of this summer to recording a new album. The “Classical Dance Music” act tracked more of Ludwig Van Beethoven’s “greatest hits” for a record due on Eddie Roberts’ Color Red imprint. Additional details, including the release date and title, are forthcoming. Electric Beethoven will test drive the new material later this month in Colorado.
Mathis & Co. begin the short run by co-headlining Boulder’s Fox Theatre with Mike Dillon Band on September 19. Then, Electric Beethoven will support Supernatural Beings at Be On Key Psychedelic Ripple on September 21 and 22. Supernatural Beings is an all-star project featuring Umphrey’s McGee keyboardist Joel Cummins, Thievery Corporation bassist Hash Vyas and Shred Is Dead guitarist Marcus Rezak. Thievery Corporation’s Jeff Franca will handle drumming duties for Supernatural Beings on September 21 with Allen Aucoin of the Disco Biscuits behind the kit on September 22.
“From a magical set at Beanstalk a couple years ago to a two-night run at Cervantes that became the origin recordings for our Maps We Found Under The Ground release, Colorado has always felt like a safe place for us to unleash these improvisations and our fans there have always encouraged us to push the boundaries,” Electric Beethoven said collectively in a statement.
