Coming off a fiery hot summer, Upstate New York-based jam quartet, Formula 5, has announced plans to hit the road this fall. Formula 5 will kick off their fall tour September 11th at Hilton Head Island, SC’s Beach House Resort, with 24 shows stretching from the Northeast to the Rocky Mountains with a swing through the South. The psychedelic rockers will be performing their special ‘Widespread’s Dead’ sets at select shows. Formula 5 will also make festival appearances at Resonance Music Festival, The Heap Music Festival and Mustang Rock and Roast Music Festival, on a nationwide tour that will bring the band to 12 states, including new destinations and familiar haunts.
At shows starting in Hilton Head, SC through Denver, CO’s Your Mom’s House, the evening will feature a set of Formula 5’s ‘Widespread’s Dead,’ a unique tribute experience that will feature a mix of songs from Widespread Panic and the Grateful Dead. The band will treat fans with a special set of intertwining the Dead and Panic catalogs, while sprinkling in their own skillful improvisation.
Guitarist Joe Davis explains,
We loved playing Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers Band and The Band in recent years and thought it would be fun to add some Widespread Panic into the mix, especially because a lot of bands from where we come from don’t cover Panic. We are big Panic fans but we don’t get to see a lot of Panic up here. The music is just a very different pace then what we are used to as longtime Phish fans.
