Upstate New York-based rockers Formula 5 kick off a lengthy Fall Tour next week. As reported, the quartet will honor Widespread Panic and Grateful Dead with a “Widespread’s Dead” performance at each stop through November 10. F5 shared a preview in the form of a video showing off their cover of Panic’s “Greta.”
Guitarist Joe Davis handles lead vocals on Formula 5’s cover of the song from Widespread Panic’s 1997 studio album Bombs & Butterflies. WSP keyboardist JoJo Hermann sings “Greta” both on the studio version and live renditions of “Greta.” Formula 5’s Matt Richards does a fine job emulating JoJo’s Clavinet work, which is at the heart of the song.
