Greensky Bluegrass wrapped up a four-show Midwest swing with Ghost Light on Saturday at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee. Like they did on Friday in Minnesota the jamgrass act once again welcomed Tom Hamilton and Holly Bowling to join them to help close out their first set.
Greensky’s got their evening going with Jimmy Martin’s “Hit Parade Of Love.” From there, the Michigan-based act would focus their energies on material from their own catalog offering up takes on the likes of “All Four,” “Worried About The Weather” and “Like Reflections,” which was debuted earlier this year at Camp Greensky. After pairing “Just To Lie” with “Wings For Wheels,” Hamilton and Bowling emerged. The augmented act dug in on a version of Greensky’s “Don’t Lie” from their 2011 release Handguns to bring the opening frame to close.
The string band opened up their second set by delivering their first ever take on Hall & Oates’ 1982 hit “Maneater.” “Courage For The Road” which was debuted back in June, Dire Straits’ “Money For Nothing” and the teaming of “Broke Mountain Breakdown” with The Beatles’ “A Day In The Life” helped highlight the stanza. GSBG concluded the night with a “Bone Digger” encore.
