Attention grammar-savvy music lovers! Live For Live Music is happy to announce that we are currently opening applications for a new full-time writer position. We are looking for an experienced writer to join our editorial team, with the opportunity to move into the role of an editor based on performance. As a staff writer for L4LM, you’d be a key part of our editorial team, helping us write, edit, and research daily articles, including cutting-edge music news, engaging features, and more. Staff Writer Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Write hyper-polished, well-structured, and compelling posts about music news on WordPress
- Edit and proofread written pieces before publication
- Research unfamiliar topics for fact-checking and to inform articles
- Post and schedule content on social networks, and monitor engagement
- Stay on top of happenings in the music world, and identify potential stories
- Develop, research, and write longer features (e.g., interviews, premieres, marketing features)
Required Experience, Skills, & Traits
- Previous experience as a writer or editor (preferably for a digital outlet)
- Excellent command of the English language
- A proven ability to write engaging copy with logical organization
- A proven ability to self-edit and find and fix grammatical errors and typos
- Knowledge of and presence on various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
- Ability to work 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with one rotating 9-5 shift each weekend (either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday)
- Knowledge of and passion for music (specifically jam, funk, bluegrass, rock, indie, EDM, soul)
- Goal-driven—both personally and for the team’s overall success
- Time management—a self-starter with an ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
- Professional—can work with artists, management, and publicists while keeping their cool
- Good attitude—positive, passionate, and flexible with a willingness to learn new things
Additional Desired Skills
- Interest and past experience in the music industry and/or journalism
- Familiarity with SEO
- Experience using WordPress or other content management systems
- Experience using team/project management applications (Asana, Basecamp, Slack)
- Strong research and interviewing skills
Location: Remote (though preferably New York City-based/within Eastern Time Zone)
Full-time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, plus one full-day rotating shift each weekend (either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday)
