You can go ahead and add yet another festival to the list of those thwarted by Mother Nature this year as Louisville, KY’s Louder Than Life fest has been officially cancelled.
The festival was set to take place this weekend, from Friday, September 28th through Sunday, September 30th. The festival was scheduled to feature performances by Alice in Chains, Limp Bizkit, Breaking Benjamin, Slash, Nine Inch Nails, Primus, Billy Idol, Action Bronson, Deftones, Godsmack, Ice Cube, Yelawolf, Gwar, and many more.
In a post on their social media accounts on Monday evening, the festival delivered the unfortunate news to fans:
Dear Louder Than Life Fans,
It is with deep regret that we inform you that this weekend’s Louder Than Life Festival has been canceled due to unsafe conditions resulting from ongoing rain and flooding at the festival site—Champions Park. After carefully inspecting the grounds and the infrastructure this evening, the city and we have determined that it is no longer possible to make the festival site safe in time for this weekend. We appreciate the outpouring of support from our fans, the numerous offers to come out and help, and the herculean efforts of the city of Louisville in trying to make the festival happen. The one thing we will never sacrifice is the safety of our fans, bands, staff and patrons. We will be back next year even bigger and better, and look forward to continuing our relationship with our incredible fans and this great city.
We will be offering full refunds for all ticket, hotel packages and camping purchases.

This unfortunate announcement comes just days after the cancellation of Bourbon & Beyond last weekend, which was originally set to take place at Champions Park, the same site as Louder Than Life. Inclement weather has forced a number of festivals to cancel some or all of their planned events this year, including Phish‘s Curveball in Watkins Glen, NY, the first day of Panorama NYC, considerable portions of Chicago’s North Coast Music Festival, last weekend’s Pilgrimage Festival in Tennessee, and more.
