Posthumous Charles Bradley Album ‘Black Velvet’ Set For Release

149

A new album recorded by late soul singer Charles Bradley prior to his death will be issued by Dunham/Daptone Records on November 9. The Screaming Eagle Of Soul’s posthumous LP Black Velvet features the lead single, “I Feel A Change.”

The 10 previously-unreleased tracks on Black Velvet were culled from outtakes of sessions held for Bradley’s 2011 debut album No Time for Dreaming, 2013’s Victim of Love and 2016’s Changes. Bradley’s longtime collaborator Tommy “TNT” Brenneck produced Black Velvet, which features three new songs: “Can’t Fight the Feeling,” “Fly Little Girl” and “I Feel a Change.” The album also includes covers of “Heart Of Gold” by Neil Young, “Slip Away” by Rodriguez and “Stay Away” by Nirvana. The title track is an instrumental Menahan Street Band recording that Bradley was supposed to add vocals to.

Bradley died September 23, 2017, following a battle with cancer. Watch the video for “I Feel A Change” here:
