Tedeschi Trucks Band recently wrapped their annual The Wheels Of Soul Summer Tour that this year featured Drive-By Truckers and The Marcus King Band. The band led by Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks posted a Spotify Playlist made up of songs that were played as house music during this summer’s caravan.
According to a note accompanying the playlist, Derek and Susan prepared the collection due to “popular demand.” The 39-song set of tracks played before shows, between sets and as walkout music features “friends and influences of all ages and genres.”
Alabama Shakes, Soulive, Courtney Barnett, Kamasi Washington, Thundercat and Khruangbin are among the contemporary acts included in the playlist. Those are found alongside late great artists like Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Leon Russell, Curtis Mayfield, Allen Toussaint, J.J. Cale and Sharon Jones. The eclectic mix also has selections by Traffic, Bob Dylan, Little Feat, Willie Nelson, Los Lobos, Rita Coolidge, The Kinks, Dr. John, Bonnie Raitt, The Byrds and many more.
