The latest installment of The JamBase Podcast is primed and ready for your listening enjoyment. Episode 21 opens with “The Rundown” of recent news stories. Next, Leftover Salmon‘s Vince Herman sits for a “Reelin’ The Years” segment. Finally, Nicki Bluhm shares “Tour Stories.”

JamBase’s Scott Bernstein hosts this episode’s “The Rundown.” The segment starts with discussion of Dave Grohl’s multiple guest appearances at the recent L.A. stop of Trombone Shorty’s Vooodoo Threauxdown traveling festival. Grohl shocked attendees by getting behind the kit for Trombone Shorty And Orleans Avenue’s instrumental rendition of the Nirvana classic “In Bloom.” Scotty then provides a recap of the many New Year’s Runs that have been announced thus far. “The Rundown” concludes with a look at the latest The String Cheese Incident and Jennifer Hartswick collaboration, which took place at Planet Bluegrass on September 15.

Episode 21 continues with Scott Bernstein’s “Reelin’ In The Years” chat with Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon. Vince spoke with Scotty backstage at Brooklyn Bowl in New York City before a recent LoS show. The pair start with a discussion of Salmon’s latest album Something Higher and then they dig into the various touring methods the band has used since forming on New Year’s Eve in 1989. Herman also talks about his beginning as a musician, what led to Leftover Salmon’s mid-’00s hiatus and decision to reform a few years later, as well as other topics.

Nicki Bluhm closes out the episode by regaling ScottyB with “Tour Stories” outside of Central Park SummerStage in New York City. Bluhm was on hand as part of a run of shows in which she was part of Phil Lesh’s band. The singer-songwriter discusses her new album To Rise You Gotta Fall and then shares a story from her performance with Phil, Bob Weir and The Terrapin Family Band at last year’s Lockn’ Festival in Arrington, Virginia. Additional topics hit upon include how her current band came together, what they do during their time off and her love for the music of the Grateful Dead.
