Childish Gambino’s New Zealand ‘PHAROS’ Festival To Go Ahead, Despite Australian Cancellation

The upcoming New Zealand iteration of Childish Gambino‘s PHAROS festival is still scheduled to go ahead in late November, despite the singer-songwriter cancelling his entire mid-November Australian tour earlier this week.

PHAROS organisers Proverse have told Music Feeds the festival “is still on schedule”, with Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) currently resting his injured foot.

“Donald is taking time to recover so he can perform at 100% for PHAROS,” a representative said.

PHAROS will make its New Zealand debut over three days within the Tapapakanga Regional Park, and will reportedly see Glover and his “special guests” perform inside a large dome while a “virtual world” is projected on the inside wall of the structure. Catch the festival dates and ticket details, below.

Today’s confirmation comes after Glover cancelled his mid-November headline shows in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney, as well as his headline appearance at Canberra’s Spilt Milk festival, telling local fans that he was “not ready to put on 100% shows” but “will be back soon”.

Glover suffered his foot injury at a concert in Dallas last month, and later postponed the remainder of his US tour dates until December.

At this rate, it appears Australian fans will have to wait until 2019.
