As reported,
the street in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens in New York City where Walter Becker grew up will be co-named “Walter Becker Way.” On Sunday, October 28, a ceremony will take place to officially unveil the street sign honoring the Steely Dan co-founder at the corner of 112th and 72nd Drive in Forest Hills.

The hour-long ceremony will start at noon and will be hosted by Jim Kerr of New York City’s classic rock station Q104.3. The event will feature opening remarks by local councilwoman Karen Koslowitz, who proposed the street renaming and a keynote speech by screenwriter and Becker’s lifelong friend Howard A. Rodman. Becker will also be remembered with trivia games, contests and giveaways organized by fans. For those that are unable to make it to Forest Hills later this month, the event will also be streamed via Q104.3’s Facebook page.
