German ‘Metal Opera’ Supergroup Avantasia Announce First-Ever Australian Tour

Tobias Sammet’s German metal supergroup Avantasia have announced their debut Australian headline tour, almost 20 years since the release of the band’s Metal Opera albums.

The full Avantasia stage show (which can last up to three hours) will hit venues in Sydney and Melbourne in May 2019, after the release of the the band’s eighth studio album, Moonglow, on 1st February.

The album features the likes of Jorn Lande, Eric Martin (Mr Big), Geoff Tate (ex-Queensryche), Michael Kiske (Helloween), Bob Catley (Magnum), Amanda Somerville and Candice Night, and some of the featured artists will perform as part of Avantasia’s 2019 Australian tour. Organisers say details will be announced “soon”.
