Hear HQ Trivia’s Scott Rogowsky Quiz Tom Marshall On Phish Trivia On New Under The Scales

195

HQ Trivia host Scott Rogowsky recently stopped by Tom Marshall’s Under The Scales podcast to discuss his comedy upbringing, how he is forever indebted to his New York summer camp for introducing him to Phish, and more. He then used the last third of the show to give Tom Marshall an HQ-style Phish quiz, starting with questions relating to Marshall’s lyrics, and moves to trickier questions regarding specific dates and Phish shows.

Rogowsky is one of a handful of high-profile Phish fans that peppers his day job with references to the band, and was tapped as the voice for SiriusXM’s Phish Radio earlier this summer. HQ Trivia, an app that hosts daily trivia games with prize money, has been doused with Phish (and Grateful Dead) references since its inception in 2017, including his nightly kickoff: “Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty, let’s get this show on the road.” Rogowsky, a noted jam band aficionado, even got John Mayer to host the app-based game while Dead & Company was in New York for their Citi Field performances over the summer.

With a sense of despondency heard in his voice, Rogowsky explains on Marshall’s podcast that he was scheduled to lead an official HQ-style Phish quiz throughout the weekend at Phish’s cancelled Curveball festival, and was more than bummed that it never happened. Rogowsky also has a deep discussion about his first show, 2/28/03 at Uniondale, NY’s Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and how the “Destiny Unbound” bust-out (last played 11/15/1991!) is one of the most memorable moments of his life.
