John Kadlecik, Disco Biscuits & Lotus Members Tapped For Upcoming ‘Grateful Dead For Kids!’ Show

168

This Friday, October 12th, a number of high-profile musicians in the jam world will come together at Philadelphia’s Ardmore Music Hall for a “Night of the Dead.” For the show, John Kadlecik, founding member and lead guitarist for Dark Star Orchestra, will lead a group called West Philly Fadeaway, which also features The Disco Biscuits’ bassist Marc Brownstein and keyboardist Aron Magner alongside Lotus drummer Mike Greenfield.

However, while John Kadlecik’s West Philly Fadeaway will kick off the weekend’s festivities on Friday night, the all-star band is sticking around for another special show specifically for kids the following morning titled Grateful Dead For Kids! Scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 13th, The Rock And Roll Playhouse—a New York City-born series that uses songs from iconic rock artists to encourage kids to move, play, and sing—will bring its weekly family concert series south to Philadelphia and join forces with Kadlecik, Brownstein, Magner, and Greenfield to perform classic songs from the Grateful Dead catalog. The venue is offering show tickets as well as an upgraded ticket that offers access to a buffet. Tickets are available here, and children under the age of one get in for free.

However, the Grateful Dead festivities don’t end there. On Saturday night, long after this special morning children’s show, the Ardmore Music Hall will host Melvin Seals & JGB, solidifying the Dead-friendly theme of the weekend. For Melvin Seals & JGB’s performance, the band will also be joined by The New Mastersounds’ guitarist Eddie Roberts, saxophonist Ron Holloway, and Swift Technique vocalist Chelsea ViaCava.
