Moog Music announced the “tri-timbral, polyphonic, analog dream-synth” Moog One. The Asheville, North Carolina-based company’s “new flagship” instrument is the first polyphonic analog Moog synthesizer released in more than 35 years.

The late Robert Moog founded what would become Moog Music in 1953. The company pioneered the development of modular synthesizers, including previous polyphonic models such as the Moog Polymoog and the Moog Multimoog. The Moog One is “available in 8-voice or 16-voice configurations [and] each individual Moog One voice circuit contains an analog signal path more powerful than a Minimoog Voyager, harnessing the capabilities of 3 newly-designed dual-output analog VCOs with ring mod and FM, 2 independent analog filters, a dual source analog noise generator, analog mixer with external audio input, 4 LFOs, and 3 envelope generators.”

Moog Music shared Moog One – A Meditation On Listening, a mini-documentary about the new synth filmed both on 8mm film and digitally in an effort to mimic and reimagine the 1976 Polymoog instructional video. Featuring Chick Corea, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Robert Glasper, Dev Hynes, Suzanne Ciani, Mark Mothersbaugh, Mark Ronson and more, watch the Moog One demo below:
