Chicago-based quartet Mungion are gearing up for the release of their second studio album Ferris Wheel’s Day Off this Friday, October 5. JamBase is pleased to premiere the 10-track LP a few days early.

Mungion (pronounced mung-yin) features guitarist/vocalist Justin Reckamp, bassist/vocalist Sean Carolan, keyboardist/vocalist Joe Re and drummer/vocalist Matt Kellen. “We have spent the last 15 months grinding away in different cities, studios and apartments are very proud of the way the whole thing turned out,” said Recamp in a press release when the album was announced. “There’s a little something for everybody here – some tracks are funky, others heavy. Often times, multiple genres are represented inside one tune; that’s the one aspect of what we do, and the records’ diversity is something we are very proud of.”

The core band was augmented by 10 musical friends on Ferris Wheel’s Day Off including a horn section. Ben Factor produced the LP which shows off Mungion’s sense of humor. “With this record, we really wanted to incorporate our personalities into the music and songwriting. We made sure that the light-hearted energy that is prevalent during our live shows came through on the record – I think that is one of the big differences from our previous works,” Carolan tells JamBase. “This album is a lot more vocal driven than our first record, which shows a pretty big transition from where we were at as a band. The songwriting process for the tunes on this record really opened up to so many different influences and musical ideas to draw from.” Listen to Mungion’s Ferris Wheel’s Day Off:
