Railroad Earth’s Andy Goessling Has Died

131

Andy Goessling, Railroad Earth’s beloved acoustic & electric guitar, banjo, dobro, lap steel, mandolin, flute, pennywhistle, and saxophone player, has died.

Andy Goessling started playing music around the age of 11, becoming a seasoned, professional musician by the age of 15. Being introduced to the clarinet in elementary school led way to a fruitful career as a woodwind and string multi-instrumentalist, as well as 17 amazing years on the road with Railroad Earth.  When not on the road with RRE, Andy toured with The Shockenaw Mountain Boys, an acoustic bluegrass outfit that includes other members of RRE, and the NYC- based acoustic world music band, Sleeping Bee.

The band notes on their Facebook, “Friends we come with heavy hearts and the sad news that our brother Andy has passed. He was truly one of a kind – a brilliant musician, and a better person. It was a privilege to share this journey with him, and through his music he touched many lives. There’s simply too much to feel right now, words are hard to find, and we’ll have more to say in time.”

We send our thoughts and prayers to Andy Goessling’s family and friends. Godspeed, Andy.
