Rayland Baxter Joins The String Cheese Incident At Suwannee Hulaween

199

The String Cheese Incident made their first of three headlining appearances at Suwannee Hulaween at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Florida on Friday. The venerable jamgrass act was joined by Rayland Baxter early on as they paired up on an SCI tune he helped co-write as well as one of his own tunes.

The Colorado-based band got their evening going in the Sunshine State by serving up the old-school “Texas.” After a take on the new Jason Hann-original “Magna” the band welcomed Baxter as they teamed up on the debut of “Gone Crooked.” The tune that was recently released as part of SCI’s Sound Lab project was co-written by the band’s bassist Keith Moseley along with Baxter and Cage The Elephant’s Nick Bockrath. Baxter then stuck around to front the ad-hoc ensemble, which also featured Jeremy Clark from his backing band, on a take on “Hey Larocco” from his most recent studio album Wide Awake. “One Step Closer,” “Turn This Around,” which was dusted off for the first time since December 30, 2017 at The Capitol Theater and “Let’s Go Outside” closed out their opening frame.

“Black And White” kicked off the venerable jam act’s second set. String Cheese would continue to work in new material as just the fourth take on “Illegal” came ahead of “Rivertrance.” Later in the set, they served up the pairing of fan-favorite “Joyful Sound” with “Search.” “Colliding” brought their first of three nights at Suwannee Hulaween to an end.
