St. Vincent Announces New Album ‘MassEducation’ & Shares Single

In 2017, St. Vincent issued the critically-acclaimed album Masseduction. Today, St. Vincent announced the upcoming release of MassEducation through Loma Vista on October 12 featuring stripped-down renditions — just vocals and piano — of the songs from the 2017 LP recorded in collaboration with pianist Thomas Bartlett.

St. Vincent, a.k.a. Annie Clark, posted a letter explaining the idea behind the upcoming album. She describes MassEducation as “two dear friends playing songs together with the kind of secret understanding one can only get through endless nights in New York City.” Clark and Bartlett “neither rehearse nor spoke about how to approach any song, but rather, played two to three live takes, picked the best one, and trusted in the feeling of the moment.” Stream the MassEducation version of “Savior” below:
