The Lemonheads Announce New Album ‘Varshons 2’ & Share Yo La Tengo Cover

233

On February 8, The Lemonheads will release Varshons 2 via Fire Records. The 13-track collection is the band’s first album in nearly a decade and serves as a follow-up to their 2009 covers-only LP. Today, the Boston-birthed band shared the record’s lead single with their take on Yo La Tengo’s “Can’t Forget.”

Produced by Matthew Cullen and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Beastie Boys, Nirvana, The Ramones), Varshons 2 finds the 1990s alt-rock act tackling tunes from a wide variety of acts. The Evan Dando-fronted band delivers takes on John Prine’s “Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness,” NRBQ’s “Easy,” Eagles’ “Take It Easy,” Florida Georgia Line’s “Round Here” and more. Listen to “Can’t Forget,” one of the lone originals from Yo La Tengo’s 1990 covers-filled album Fakebook below:
