Irish-Australian dance trio The Potbelleez have cancelled a scheduled performance at Sydney’s Million Dollar Chase greyhound race, after facing backlash from animal rights activists.
The group, who were set to perform at the race on Saturday, 20th October, reportedly deactivated their Facebook account on Monday night, due to an overwhelmingly negative response to their show announcement.
The Potbelleez have since returned to Facebook to say they “will no longer be performing” at the race.
Racing NSW is reportedly furious at the band’s decision to cancel their performance, but many supporters have praised the trio on social media.
“Well done on making the right decision,” one wrote.
“Thank you. Greyhounds are beautiful dogs and should not be routinely bred and discarded for gambling,” said another.
