Ween Debuts Outkast Cover At The Tabernacle In Atlanta

240

The first portion of Ween‘s Fall Tour 2018 came to a close with a pair of shows at The Tabernacle in Atlanta on Friday and Saturday night. Ween honored Atlanta’s own Outkast by debuting a cover of “Hey Ya” within Saturday’s show.

Guitarist Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo handled vocals and went acoustic on the cover of the song from Outkast’s 2003 album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. Gene Ween sang backup with a huge smile spread across his face. Ween’s version of “Hey Ya” came towards the middle of a 27-song performance on Saturday that also included the 2018 debuts of “The Blarney Stone” and “Even If You Don’t” as well as an unusual arrangement of “Stroker Ace” featuring Mickey on lead vocals. “That’s the only time I’m ever gonna do that,” Deaner told the crowd at the end of the cover.
