Guitarist Cory Wong and saxophonist Dave Koz have come together for a new project dubbed The Koz Nod. Today, the duo has announced the release of a limited edition 7″-single featuring the brand new song “Friends At Sea.”
The musicians connected after Wong posted a pair of videos to YouTube professing his love of horn player, specifically talking about Dave Koz & Friends At Sea. “During every show I’ve done this past year, I’ve talked about how crazy it is that a guy has his own cruise that goes in different parts of the world every year, and it sells out before he even announces who is going to be playing on it,” shared Wong in a statement. “He didn’t know when he was practicing his pentatonic scales in 6th grade that he’d be where he is today…or did he?! I’ve been trying to connect with Dave Koz to play on his cruise and get out of Minnesota this winter.”
The pair went into the studio to record an updated take on Wong’s “The Optimist” and the brand new track “Friends At Sea.” The single is available for pre-order now and will be released digitally on Friday, November 23.
