Singer-songwriter Dave Martin keeps busy as a member of a number of bands including Grateful Dead tribute act Raising The Dead, The Classics and The Bel Airs and by performing with the Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church Band in Grosse Ile, Michigan. Martin also teaches choral music at Robert J. West Middle School in Taylor, Michigan. Dave Martin recently uploaded a pair of videos to his YouTube channel that should be of interest to Trey Anastasio and Phish fans.

In the first video, Dave Martin leads the Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church Band through the Trey Anastasio ballad “Flock Of Words” at the church on September 15. Martin charted the song with Doug Scott and enlisted his daughter Mia Martin to sing harmony. “‘Flock Of Words’ is a beautiful song by Phish frontman Trey Anastasio, from his debut solo album,” Martin wrote on his blog. “I’ve loved this song for years, especially the beautiful vocal harmonies and haunting lyric. When the theme of worship at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church was announced as ‘The Power of Words,’ I knew the time to perform this had come.” Watch Dave and Mia sing “Flock Of Words” with the GIPC Band:

On Halloween, Phish’s musical costume at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas was Kasvot Växt’s 1981 album í rokk. Phish actually concocted the band and wrote the songs themselves in a hoax of the highest caliber. The talented Martin recorded what he thinks the Kasvot Växt track “Death Don’t Hurt Very Long” would sound like if the band existed and released í rokk in 1981 as Phish said they did. Listen to the version of “Death Don’t Hurt Very Long” Dave Martin shared just three days after Halloween:
