Greensky Bluegrass Shares ‘All For Money’ Title Track

174

Greensky Bluegrass will release a new album entitled All For Money on January 18 via Big Blue Zoo Records. The band shared the title track from their seventh studio, which contains a total of 12 songs.

“All For Money” features lead vocals and lyrics from mandolinist Paul Hoffman. Greensky Bluegrass has yet to perform the song live. The five-piece enlisted longtime Jack White bassist Dominic Davis and Glenn Brown to co-produce the LP, which was recorded at Echo Mountain Recording in Asheville. Here’s what Hoffman had to say about the song that inspired the title of the album:

“This paradox that exists in doing what you love or having your dreams come true. We are so truly blessed. But also, what if the support and all the attention starts to feel like crowding and containment. I wanted to be careful about how to say this. It’s tricky. I’m not harboring any resent or regret. Far from it in fact. Pride and honor. But if we get tired or if we’re making decisions based on our needs to eat or the desires of others, well, that’s just not ‘doing what you love.’ The song and the album are so much about us. It’s about what we do and the love we receive in return. So ‘if you need a voice, I’m yours friend. For something better in the end.”

Read what Anders Beck had to say about “All For Money”:

“Never has one of our ‘title tracks’ felt more like a true title track to me. This song defines us, not just in Paul’s lyrics that speak of the roller coaster of emotions we go through as a band, but in the way in which we deliver the message. Playful, joyous, fearless, psychedelic, triumphant, weird, emotional … all of these words describe the way we play on this song. Each section feels like an opus. It comes in waves and requires your focus to make it through … if you do, the reward is strong. We’re asking the most we ever have of our listeners on this song. Believe us, the payoff is worth it.”
