Mavis Staples will issue Live In London, a new live album recorded during a two-night engagement at Union Chapel in London. The renowned vocalist shared the single “No Time For Cryin’” from the record coming out on ANTI- Records on February 8.

Staples’ last live album was Hope at the Hideout, which was recorded in her native Chicago in 2008. Recorded earlier this year on July 9 and on July 10 – Staples’ 79th birthday, the material presented on Live In London focuses on the records she made since joining ANTI- in 2007. Some of the tracks were written for Staples by the likes of Jeff Tweedy, Justin Vernon, M. Ward, Benjamin Booker and Ben Harper, while others were regularly performed by The Staples Singers.

“I’ve stretched out — I’m singing songs that rock stars have written for me but they know me and the kind of songs I want to sing,” Staples said. “I love that song [“Love And Trust,” written by Harper], it’s a beauty. I’ve been sending a message of love and trust since the sixties, and I’m still searching for that.”
