Peter Rowan Joins Railroad Earth For Old & In The Way Tribute On This Date In 2013

157

In 2013 Railroad Earth celebrated Thanksgiving by hosting their third annual Horn O’ Plenty festival in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Just like they did the past two nights, in 2013 RRE performed a pair of shows at the Sherman Theater, with the second night featuring special guest Peter Rowan.

During the first set of their November 30, 2013 show, Railroad Earth honored renowned bluegrass act Old & In The Way. The New Jersey-based jamgrass act was joined for the entire set by Old & In The Way guitarist Peter Rowan for a re-creation of the 1975 debut Old & In The Way LP, including such favorites as “Pig in a Pen,” “The Hobo Song,” “Panama Red” and “Kissimmee Kid.” Yungchen Lhamo also sat-in on vocals for the set closing “Land Of The Navajo.”

Rowan returned in the second set for takes on “The Cuckoo,” “Cold Rain And Snow” and “Walls Of Time.” The second half also featured the debuts of RRE’s “Chasin’ A Rainbow” and “One More Night On The Road.”
