Phish Members Given Songwriting Credit For Kasvot Växt Halloween Set

Phish‘s musical costume for their Halloween 2018 performance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas was Kasvot Växt’s í rokk. The band issued a Playbill to fans entering the venue which claimed Kasvot Växt was a Scandinavian band who issued an album entitled í rokk in 1981. While fans quickly realized no such band or album existed, despite a number of articles planted on the internet, the hoax has been confirmed by songwriting credits shared on the LivePhish page for the Halloween show.

All 10 í rokk tracks are credited to the four members of Phish — Trey Anastasio, Page McConnell, Mike Gordon and Jon Fishman. Frequent songwriting collaborator Tom Marshall revealed he had nothing to do with the Kasvot Växt set during a Couch Report podcast. Phish tried to perpetuate the hoax by working up an intricate backstory for Kasvot Växt that included pages on All Music, Perfect Sound Forever and WFMU as well as an essay within the Playbill containing quotes from the members of Phish.
