California rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced their return to Australia for their first local headline tour in over 12 years.
Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer will play seven shows around the country between February and March 2019, hitting Hobart, Sydney, the Hunter Valley, Brisbane, Melbourne, Geelong and Perth.

“We can’t wait to see all our fans in Australia and New Zealand – it has been too long,” the band said in a statement.
“The fact that we get to play in Tassie for the first time makes this tour even more special.”
Red Hot Chili Peppers released their latest album The Getaway in 2016, after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
The band’s last Australian tour saw over 140,000 fans attend nine sold out shows in 2007, before the group returned to headline Big Day Out in 2013.
During their 2019 tour, the Chilis are expected to play tracks from The Getaway, as well as some of their biggest hits and fan favourites.
