Soundscape VR Virtual Reality Music Stage Premieres At Suwannee Hulaween

The world’s first virtual reality music stage Soundscape VR made its official debut at last month’s Suwannee Hulaween music festival in Florida. Created by Groove Science Studios, the Soundscape VR platform will launch a free expansion on December 20 that will add private and public social VR worlds and a multiplayer rhythm game, as well as a redesigned interface and other additional enhancements.

The Suwannee Hulaween Soundscape VR experience allowed attendees the opportunity to explore audio-reactive virtual reality worlds. Live music was channeled into the PA system while a visual component was projected on 120” screens. Here’s how the Suwannee Hulaween Soundscape VR experience was described:

As the rhythm of the bass sent waves of light rushing through the virtual world, players took flight to explore their new realties; blasting fireworks, painting, and doodling names in the sky. One world would exist deep inside a shifting nebula of infinite scale, the next on an icy peak bathed in the glow of the aurora borealis. As one player created a cyclone of embers inside a crystalline cave, the next would spray a firehose of light, bombarding a distant planet.

“We were very excited to have the opportunity to host Soundscape VR at this year’s Suwannee Hulaween festival,” said Andrew Carroll, producer of the festival’s Spirit Lake. “What a unique and exciting experience entering into the Soundscape VR world! Every time I stopped by the installation there were lines of people waiting to venture into this out-of-this-world experience. Most people have never seen anything like it! I hope we’re able to have them back next year.”

Soundscape VR can be found on Oculus Home and Steam, and downloaded for free via Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Watch a recap of the Suwannee Hulaween Soundscape VR experience below:
