A new episode of The JamBase Podcast with co-hosts David Onigman and Andy Kahn is available now. The abbreviated Episode 24 is made up of “The Rundown” featuring DaveO and AK discussing Phish‘s Halloween-night performance in Las Vegas.

“The Rundown” chat focuses primarily on Phish’s second set at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The band’s Halloween musical costume was í rokk by a fictional Scandinavian prog-rock band Kasvot Växt. Phish created an intricate backstory for Kasvot Växt that included pages on All Music, Perfect Sound Forever and WFMU. The Playbill handed out in Sin City also had quotes from the members of Phish talking about the made-up ’80s prog-rock group and their lone album. Dave and Andy give their thoughts on the show, including the band’s ability to keep the gag a secret, their approach to writing fresh-sounding new songs, the set’s intricate stage design, overall production and more.

The episode wraps with a rundown of some of the other Halloween shows that happened this week such as Gov’t Mule‘s Black Sabbath-honoring Mule-O-Ween performance, Widespread Panic‘s Laugh-In-themed concert and The String Cheese Incident‘s guest-filled A Hula Incident: Celebrating Women Of The Galaxy set at Suwannee Hulaween. There are also notes on Halloween gigs played by Greensky Bluegrass and Bob Weir and Wolf Bros.
