Guitarist William Tyler announced a new studio album Goes West featuring the single “Fail Safe.” Merge Records will release the record on January 25.
The follow-up to 2016’s Modern Country was recorded at Flora Recording And Playback in Portland, Oregon with engineer Tucker Martine. The 10-track album was produced by Brad Cook (of Megafaun) who also played bass alongside guitarist Bill Frisell, Dawes drummer Griffin Goldsmith, Phil Cook/Hiss Golden Messenger keyboardist James Wallace and Hand Habits guitarist Meg Duffy. As noted in a bio written by Hiss Golden Messenger’s M.C. Taylor, Goes West was written in California following Tyler’s moving there from Tennessee. Check out “Fail Safe” below:
