Brandi Carlile, John Prine & Margo Price Among 2019 Grammy Awards Nominees

Brandi Carlile, John Prine and Margo Price were among the 2019 Grammy Awards nominees. Winners will be revealed at the 61st Grammy Awards ceremony taking place at Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 10.

Carlile’s song “The Joke” was nominated for Record Of The Year and (with co-writers Dave Cobb, Phil Hanseroth and Tim Hanseroth) for Song Of The Year and Best American Roots Song. The song appeared on her album By The Way, I Forgive You that was nominated for Album Of The Year and Best Americana Album.

Prine will challenge Carlile for Best American Roots Song for his “Knockin’ On Your Screen Door” and “Summer’s End.” Both songs appeared on Prine’s album The Tree Of Forgiveness which will go up against Carlile and The Wood BrothersOne Drop Of Truth for Best Americana Album. Price, who released her second album All American Made in 2017 and debut album Midwest Farmer’s Daughter in 2016, was nominated for Best New Artist.

Kacey Musgraves, Greta Van Fleet, Beck, Willie Nelson, Chris Cornell, St. Vincent, David Byrne, Leon Bridges, Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite, Buddy Guy, Anderson .Paak, The Travelin’ McCourys and Punch Brothers were also among those receiving nominations.
