Dave Matthews Band Dusts Off Talking Heads Cover In Manchester

146

Dave Matthews Band brought their fall tour to Southern New Hampshire University Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire on Tuesday night. The septet had a few surprises in store including the return of a Talking Heads cover that hadn’t been performed in over two years.

“Funny The Way It Is” served as the opener before the group unearthed the tour debut of “The Best Of What’s Around.” Next came a fitting rendition of “Warehouse” on the 20th anniversary of the launch of the band’s Warehouse fan club. “Again & Again” was then the first song from 2018’s Come Tomorrow to make the setlist. A few songs later DMB lit into “Burning Down The House” by Talking Heads for the first time since September 4, 2016.

DMB’s 18-song main set continued on with a focus on classic material such as “Everyday,” “Jimi Thing,” “Crash Into Me” and “What Would You Say.” Matthews & Co. also worked in a cover of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer.” The familiar pairing of “Pantala Naga Pampa” > “Rapunzel” closed out the set before the band said farewell with a “#41” and “Grey Street” encore. “#41” hadn’t been performed in the encore of a full-band show since September 28, 2008 as per DMB Almanac.
