moe. ended a two-night stand at the Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta on Saturday with an old friend and a new one. The quintet was joined by Cracker frontman David Lowery towards the beginning of the first set and by Atlanta Braves organist Matthew Kaminski to end the frame.

The band opened with “Spaz Medicine” and then were led by Lowery on a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Loser.” Next came an extended pairing of “St. Augustine” and “Wind It Up” before “Gone” bled into “Okayalright.” A lengthy “Waiting For The Punchline” followed. Kaminiski, who plays organ during Braves games at SunTrust Park, emerged to augment moe. on “Blue Jeans & Pizza” to close the first set.

moe. kicked off the second set with recent material in the form of “I Can Never Remember,” “Prestige Worldwide” and “New Hope For The New Year.” A 20+ minute “Meat” came in the middle of “New Hope For The New Year” and served as one of the improvisational highlights of the night. For the encore, moe. reached for “Blue Christmas” which was last played on December 4, 2016. “Blue Christmas” was one of 10 songs the band recorded for Season’s Greetings From moe. in 2002.
