Elton John Shares Newly Found ‘Step Into Christmas’ Performance From 1973 & New EP

In 1973, Elton John appeared on an episode of the Gilbert O’Sullivan Show in the U.K. John used the opportunity to perform “Step Into Christmas,” which had been released as a single in November of that year. Today, the musician has shared the recently unearthed original clip of him performing the Christmastime classic along with a new three-song EP.

The pianist was joined on the television show by his classic 1970s lineup of guitarist Davey Johnstone, bassist Dee Murray and drummer Nigel Olsson along with a rare appearance by John’s songwriting partner Bernie Taupin on percussion. Additionally, Elton has released a new three-song EP that includes the original studio version “Step Into Christmas” along with its B-side “Ho! Ho! Ho! (Who’d Be A Turkey At Christmas)” as well as the live version of “Step Into Christmas” from the Gilbert O’Sullivan Show. Listen to the EP below:
