Today, Hootie & The Blowfish have announced some big plans in 2019 to celebrate 25 years since the release of their smash hit 1994 debut album, Cracked Rear View, which remains one of top 20 best-selling albums ever released in the U.S.. Hootie & The Blowfish will hit the road for a lengthy 25th-anniversary tour stretching from the end of May through the middle of September. The swing, dubbed the Group Therapy Tour, will feature nightly support from another once-enormous act of a similar ’90s vintage, Barenaked Ladies.
As the band notes in this morning’s announcement post, “It’s crazy to think that next year, Cracked Rear View will be 25 years old. We think it’s time to celebrate… with you!”

Included in that list of stops are a number of fan-favorite amphitheaters and arenas like the Hollywood Bowl, Shoreline Amphitheater, Blossom Music Center, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Madison Square Garden, Alpine Valley Music Theatre, Hersheypark Stadium, and more, as well as long-running state fairs like the Great Jones County Fair and Iowa State Fair.
The tour announcement is an exciting one for fans of this top 90s act. Frontman Darius Rucker has been cranking out contemporary country hits for the better part of a decade, endearing himself with the country crowd enough to earn a “New Artist Award” from the Country Music Association in 2009, a full 15 years after Hootie & The Blowfish’s juggernaut of a debut album. However, Hootie dates have been few and far between during that period, aside from the group’s annual Homegrown concerts in Charleston, SC which benefit the Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation.
